How to Change Visual Themes & Text Contrast
Protect your eyes during long study sessions. Choose between clean modern white, soothing warm ivory paper, or vintage sepia tones, along with ultra-bold high-contrast modes for maximum legibility.
Look at the very top-right corner of your browser window (inside the top navigation bar next to the Playlists and Column Customizer buttons). Click the Palette icon () to open the Visual Themes & Contrast dialog.
Theme & Contrast Settings:
- Clean Crisp White: Ultra-clean modern white background with sharp slate contrast.
- Warm White / Ivory: Soft, gentle ivory paper tone designed for prolonged reading comfort without harsh screen glare.
- Classic Sepia: Warm vintage parchment tone engineered to reduce blue-light eye fatigue.
- Text Contrast Modes: Choose between Standard Contrast, High Contrast, and Ultra Bold Black for sharper legibility.
How to Rearrange & Reorder Columns
Every learner prefers a different visual hierarchy. You can place the Korean text first, put the English meaning first for flashcard quizzing, or position the native audio buttons wherever you want.
- Direct on Table: In the practice table header row, hover over any column to see the vertical drag handle (
โฎโฎ) on the left side of the title. - In Header Controls: Click the Sliders Icon () in the top-right sticky header bar to open the Column Customizer.
- Above the Table: Click the Customize View button in the toolbar above the table.
AMethod 1: Direct Drag-and-Drop in the Table
- Hover over any column header in the practice table to reveal the vertical drag handle (
โฎโฎ). - Click and hold the drag handle.
- Drag the column horizontally left or right. A highlight indicator will appear showing where the column will be dropped.
- Release the mouse button to swap column positions instantly. Your preference is automatically saved to your browser!
BMethod 2: Using the Column Customizer Modal
- Click the Customize View button in the toolbar or the Sliders icon in the top header.
- Use the Up (โ) and Down (โ) buttons beside each column to shift its order.
- Click Save & Apply to update the workspace.
How to Change Font Size per Column
Every column has its own dedicated font size slider continuum. Make Korean Hangul characters jumbo-sized for easy reading, while keeping phonetics and English translations compact.
Look directly at the top header row of the table. Below each column name (e.g. below Korean (ํ๊ตญ์ด) or English Meaning), look for the small Size: slider bar. Dragging this slider scales that specific column instantly.
Using In-Header Continuum Sliders
Located directly below each column title in the table header, you will find a dedicated Size slider:
- Korean Text Column: Scales from 0.80rem all the way to 4.00rem for extra-large stroke clarity.
- Meaning, Phonetics & Romanization: Scale independently from 0.80rem to 2.80rem.
- Simply drag the slider thumb left or right to watch the text scale live across all 725+ rows in real-time.
How to Hide and Show Columns (Ultra-Thin 22px Rail)
Want to test your memory without looking at English translations or Romanization? Hide any column with a single click. Hidden columns collapse into an ultra-thin 22px rail (โ) so they take zero distraction while remaining 1-click restorable.
- To Hide: Click the minimal Hide Icon (โ) in the top-right corner of any column header cell.
- To Reopen: Click the thin vertical rail displaying the โ Open badge on the table border.
Quick Hide & Show Workflow
- Click the minimal Hide Icon (โ) in the top-right corner of any column header.
- The column immediately collapses into a thin vertical rail displaying a โ reopen badge.
- To restore the column, simply click the โ rail or reopen it from the Column Settings modal!
- Visible columns automatically expand to fill 100% of the table width with zero wasted margins.
How to Listen to Korean (or Other Languages) Spoken Audio
Every single phrase, word breakdown, alphabet character, and number on AndongKim.com includes direct on-page native audio buttons.
In the practice table, look at the second column titled Listen (or on mobile cards, look directly beside the Korean text). You will see two pill buttons: ๐ Male and ๐ Female.
1-Tap Dual-Voice Audio Playback
- Male Voice Button (๐ Male): Standard Seoul native male voice recording.
- Female Voice Button (๐ Female): Standard Seoul native female voice recording.
- Instant Playback: Audio is pre-buffered for zero-latency instant playback when you tap.
- Global Languages: As additional languages (Chinese, Spanish, Thai, Japanese, Vietnamese) roll out, both native voices will be available with the same 1-tap interface.
How to Change Speech Speed & Repetition Loops
Never get left behind by rapid conversational speech. Slow audio down to 0.50x to dissect difficult consonants, or speed it up to 1.50x to build reflex recognition. Set custom repetition counts to loop audio automatically until perfected.
Look at the column header titled Listen. Right next to the word โListenโ, click the small Sliders icon (). This opens the Audio Speed & Repetition popover.
Customizing Speed & Loops
- In the table header under the Listen column, click the Sliders Icon () to open the Audio Popover.
- Speed Slider: Drag the continuum slider from 0.50ร (half speed) up to 1.50ร (fast conversational) in 0.05 increments.
- Repeat Count: Enter any number (e.g. 1ร, 3ร, 5ร, 10ร) or click โ for continuous endless looping.
How to Use the โPlay Allโ Audio Sequencer
Studying while driving, cooking, walking, or resting? Tap โPlay Allโ to automatically listen through every phrase in the active topic, situation, or saved playlist without touching your screen.
Directly above the top-right corner of the practice table, look for the black button labeled โถ Play All (N).
Activating Sequential Playback
- Navigate to any category (e.g. Editor's Choice, K-Drama Dialogues, or a custom playlist).
- Click the prominent Play All (N) button at the top of the table.
- The audio engine will play each phrase sequentially with natural pauses in between, respecting your active speed and repetition settings.
How to Add to Favorites & Create Custom Playlists
Curate your own targeted practice lists. Bookmark essential phrases with a single star tap, or create themed playlists (e.g. โMy Trip to Seoulโ, โOrdering at BBQโ, โJob Interview Koreanโ) and practice them together.
- To Bookmark a Phrase: In the leftmost column of any phrase row, click the Star Icon (โ ).
- To View & Create Playlists: In the Top-Right Sticky Header Bar, click the Playlists button (๐).
Creating & Managing Favorites
- Instant Star (โ ): Click the Star icon on any phrase row or card. It turns solid black/white and is instantly added to your default Favorites playlist.
- Open Playlists Modal: Click the Playlists () button in the top header.
- Create New Playlist: Type a custom name in the text field and click + Create.
- Add to Custom List: Open any phrase info modal (
โ) and click your custom playlist tag to assign it.

In the practice table, look at the very first column on the left. Beside the Star icon on each row, click the small circular โiโ badge (i) to open the full modal.

- Formality Level Badge: Clearly tags phrases as Formal Respect (ํฉ์ผ์ฒด), Polite Standard (ํด์์ฒด), or Casual Intimate (๋ฐ๋ง).
- Word-by-Word Breakdown: Explains root verbs, noun particles (์/๋, ์ด/๊ฐ), and honorific endings.
- Literal Meanings: Reveals exact translations so you understand how Korean concepts are formed.

How to Change the Overall Text Size (A- / A+ / Reset)
Scale all columns simultaneously with a single tap. Located right above the table, the global text size stepper lets you zoom in or out across the entire workspace.
Look directly above the table header. In the toolbar, find the container labeled Text Size: A- / A+ / โบ.
Stepper Controls:
- Zoom Out (): Scales all column fonts down proportionally.
- Zoom In (): Scales all column fonts up proportionally.
- Reset (): Instantly restores all font sizes and column widths back to their standard defaults.
How to Customize Your View, Presets & Container Width
